Browser--A software program used to view and interact with websites on the World Wide Web (www). Examples: Internet Explorer, Thunderbird, and Netscape.

Domain Name--A website address that allows us to locate specific websites on the internet. Must be purchased and registered; important for branding a business. Also known as a Uniform Resource Locater (URL). For example: www.Ripples-on-Water.com.

Hosting Service--A company that uses web servers, or even a server field, to provide storage space for many websites.

Internet Protocol (IP) Address--The numeric code that physically locates the server hosting the website. The domain name is an easy to remember alias for an IP address, such as 12.76.33.245. Your hosting service can link your IP address, domain name, and website.

Web Server--A computer connected to the internet where web pages are stored.
